2024 Flew Right By
Felt more like a drag tbh...
Why Was it Such a Drag?
Things took a wicked turn when I started having nightmares again. Not your average scary monster type shit either. I'm talking WAKING UP SCREAMING and being afraid to fall back asleep.
I had the pleasure of being invited to do more therapy (courtesy of the Sugar Plum Fairy) to help me figure out what the hell was going on in my brain. SPOILER: It was awful.
... and Totally Worth It
Gotta love those dialectic thoughts!
Going into the therapy I knew it was going to be lengthy (up to 41 weeks) and it was going to bring up some strong emotions. Didn't really want to do it but knew I needed the help.
My whole year seemed to revolve around dealing with those issues. I did not get a whole lot done outside of taking care of my mental health so I could take care of Parker.

I started this post 5 days ago, came back to it today, and ended up on Canva.

Writing this post got me thinking about some statements that rattle around in my head, which turned into a little side project. The guide includes four sections:
Mental Health Boost: Uplifting Quotes to Live By
Treat Yourself with Kindness: Quotes for Building Compassion
Embrace Your Power: Affirmations for Inner Strength
Your Thoughts: A Space for Reflection
I created two versions. One is text only with readability in mind. The second has a few cute coloured graphics and the titles are in a more handwritten font. Feedback always gladly accepted.
2025 Update
Just a little bit overdue.
Mental Health
'Tis much better.
My sleep is back to the usual semi-trash routine it was before the nightmares. I do my best to stick with a schedule but some nights my brain just ain't having it.
I have started attending a weekly "Keeping up with the Skills" DBT group to keep it fresh in my mind. I can't actually imagine a world where it isn't front of my mind. I figure it's good to go regardless.
Parker
She's 6 now, practically retired. My personal opinion is that kids this age are the best. Old enough to do things for themselves and young enough to be fun and silly. Love it!
Business
I joined Faith Mariah's "Becoming Boss Mastermind" and holy crap is it ever kicking my ass. It's exactly what I needed to get my mindset right and execute my plans instead of just thinking about them. Done is better than perfect (obviously, cause perfect doesn't exist!)
I have a total of 12 blog posts scheduled on my calendar for February and March. I decided to start with the DBT skills that I found most helpful back in the day so you can see if they help you out as well.
“Growth isn’t always obvious, but trust that it’s happening, even on the hard days.”
As we move into 2025, I’m reminded that growth isn’t linear, but it’s always happening—even when we can’t see it. I’m grateful for the challenges of last year because they’ve shaped me into a stronger version of myself.
Here’s to embracing the unknown with open arms and continuing to grow, no matter where the journey takes us.
xoxo
